STILLWATER MINE – CATHEDRAL MOUNTAIN DEVELOPMENT

Photograph “A” – High View taken from the top of the subdivision facing the valley.
The Low View taken from midway down the development.

Marty Connell was hired to photograph the Stillwater
mine and surrounding area and create a visual approximation of the original
site plan.  He began by digitally moving the smelter from its existing
location in Columbus, Montana, to the site where it was originally intended.

Next, Marty graphically moved the settling pond to the
area where it was originally proposed.  Photograph "C" is the view from the
Cathedral Mountain Development of the Stillwater Mine as it would have
looked if constructed according to the original plan.

Marty Connell used the services of Harp Engineering to
determine the correct locations and elevations of both the smelter and
settling pond.  Additional aerial photographs of the site were taken from a
helicopter, but not modified for the project.

This project is an example of how hypothetical scenarios can be
visually communicated for litigation purposes using digital photography and Photoshop.
